Question

I have been informed by my PCT that the ethnicity codes that we had been using here were now not applicable and that we had to use the new codes as agreed by DOH.

e.g. for British we had been using .9S10 and we now had to use .9i0

Both the above codes make the prompts box disappear but if someone is Irish then the new code of .9i1 is not recognised in the prompts only the old .9S code is recognised.

Answer

As others have indicated, you can still continue to use data from the 9S and 9i chapters. However, the 9i chapter is "preferred" and one imagines it may become mandated in the future, at which point you would want to consider a read code swap.

However, in the interim, you can tick the option in Contract+ Settings | Prompts | "Suppress deprecated (9S..) codes for ethnicity prompt" and this ensures that the only options you are given in the cue card are for the preferred 9i codes.
